The Waterside Managed Apprenticeship
At Waterside, all apprentices on the fully managed apprenticeship scheme are employed by Waterside Training and they receive a salary and the usual employment entitlements, however, our apprentices are ‘sponsored’ by manufacturing, engineering and process industry companies to provide the work based experience.
We tailor specific programmes to meet the exact needs of company’s future workforces. Due to the ageing workforce population in industry, apprenticeships can provide closure of the skills gap that many companies are experience providing a workforce for the future, therefore, you are making a considerable investment for the future should you decide to invest in sponsoring an apprentice for your company via our Managed Scheme.
At Waterside, if you decide as a company to select a Waterside Managed Apprenticeship, this means Waterside will select, recruit, employ and train the apprentice. The apprentice is directly employed by Waterside Training and sponsored by a company site (the sponsoring company) to carry out the vocational and site based training for the apprentice to become trained to NVQ L3 standards. The apprentice will spend four days a week on site and 1 day release to attend Technical College throughout the programme. Waterside will carry out all recruitment and tailor the programmes to the sponsoring company requirements in line with the mandatory apprenticeship framework. We undertake to pay for the costs of the training programme, including salary costs in return for a management fee. We have now developed a fully managed service to release companies from the time consuming process inherent in the recruitment and ongoing administration of training apprentices and have successfully provided companies with there future workforces.
