Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship at AB World Foods, Wigan

Waterside Training in partnership with AB World Foods based in Leigh has a fantastic opportunity for apprentices to join their team as Manufacturing Technicians.

The Leigh site produces a wide range of products, primarily under the Pataks brand creating authentic sauces, pickles, chutney and pappadums. The role will give extensive experience through all of the manufacturing processes carried out at the Leigh site within the Paste, Pappadum and Sauce teams with the aim for the apprentice to understand and gain experience in each of the core roles of Sauce/Paste Batching Technician, Sauce Filling Technician and Pappadum Extrusion Technician within the factory.

As a Manufacturing Process Operator you will report to Team Leaders and be responsible for operating key pieces of equipment on the line. Duties will involve product changeovers, carrying out regular quality and process control checks to completing the relevant paperwork. You will also be responsible for being proactive to Health and Safety working within defined safe systems of work, improving health and safety and demonstrating the correct behaviours and report unsafe acts.

You will engage with the continuous improvement agenda seeking out new opportunities to take an active role in all CI activities. You will work towards total Quality Assurance by ensuring all hygiene tasks are carried out and maintained in a clean and tidy state, proactively report pest control issues and manage process quality parameters to ensure good quality output. You will also carry out analytical tests during production making any necessary adjustments to products to meet quality standards.

Entry Criteria: 5 GCSE's at A - C (or equivalent Grade 5-9) in Mathematics, English and Science.
