Who should attend?

This 2 day beginner’s course is aimed at industrial engineers and technicians who need to maintain Programmable Logic Controller systems and who are likely to carry out fault finding.

Why is this course important?

The course provides detailed grounding in PLC concepts such as inputs/outputs, ladder logic and fault finding, which is essential for maintaining uptime and performance of machines/processes. Delegates will learn to practically wire up PLC systems and then carry out programming. The focus is on principles and techniques which apply to all PLC platforms, including Allen Bradley and Siemens. The practical work is carried out on Mitsubishi FX series controllers using GX Developer software.

This is a hands-on practical course. Delegates will be expected to read electrical schematics, and implement simple PLC systems on Waterside’s electrical training rigs.

Bespoke PLC training

Waterside can offer bespoke PLC courses to suit individual company needs.  Training can be modified to incorporate customer process details, scenarios etc. making the course more directly relevant to staff.  Since the course focuses on generic principles, training is still delivered on the Mitsubishi rigs, but details of the specific platforms used by the customer can be integrated.  The training rigs are portable, allowing PLC courses to be delivered at customer sites.  This can be particularly effective when several staff need PLC training.
