Opportunity

 

Apprentices will complete a program of theoretical and practical learning. On completion of the broad-based training individuals will work with experienced crafts people at site tackling “real life” activities specifically studying in one core discipline which will be Mechanical Engineering.  Typical working hours will be 37.5 hours per week and once onsite a willingness to work shift work on completion of the apprenticeship is essential.

You will complete a full year of foundation training in conjunction with Waterside Training Ltd, this training will cover Mechanical practical training as well as other courses that will support your learning and develop your engineering skills.

Main Responsibilities:

 

    • Ensures production moulds and associated equipment are available to the production department as established by the planning department.
    • Ensures production moulds and associated equipment are serviced to the correct level to attain consistent product quality.
    • Ensures mould and associated equipment is optimized to improve key figures and targets.
    • Support the Production leadership team to drive Continuous Improvement into the Toolroom function through lean tools & methodologies.
    • Supports Safety as a Priority to the operation

English, Maths and Science at a Grade 4/C or above (Mandatory)

Training to be Provided

Your training at site will include:

  • Maintains production moulds, associated equipment and spares inventory
    • Updates Mould Documentation – Mould Books
    • Maintains and Updates Mould maintenance schedules – CMMS
    • Maintains production moulds and associated equipment in line with established maintenance schedule
    • Monitors and Maintains critical spares stock levels
    • Provides monthly expenditure and compliance reports
    • Support Focused Improvement opportunities
    • Troubleshoots mould and associated equipment problems
    • Escalates any high-risk problems, related to moulds, associated equipment and spares availability to the Production manager
    • Project Sampling
    • Ensures project moulds qualification protocol compliance – AQP
    • Supports project sampling activity and ensures qualification protocol compliance – AQ
    • Personnel Development
    • Ensures affective communication, in regard to production moulds, associated equipment and spares availability to the production department.
    • Advises Production Manager of Toolroom personnel training requirements
    • Ensures all procedures are adhered to
    • Supports revision of existing procedures
    • Supports the development and implementation of new procedures

The position description is not all inclusive and I may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Things to Consider

You must be able to travel to both Waterside Training Ltd (St Helens) and Alpla Port Sunlight (Wirral) to carry out both your learning and training/job role.

Future Prospects

The successful candidate will become a fully qualified Toolroom Technican qualified to Level 3 with the option of possible further eduction and qualifications.

The purpose of this role is to future proof the team so there will be future career prospects/progression available to the right candidate.
