Apprenticeship Recruitment Process
Your Step-by-Step Journey
At Waterside Training, our recruitment process is designed to help match motivated candidates with engineering and manufacturing apprenticeship opportunities.
Step 1 – Apply Online
Complete an online application form with your personal details, qualifications, interests, and reasons for applying.
View our Vacancy page for all current apprenticeship vacancies now available to apply. Or complete our expression of interest form if you are interested in our 2027-28 intake
All communication to arrange appointments in line with your application will be completed via email, please check your emails and junk folder to keep track of your application. You only need to complete one application. If you are interested in other positions, then please add any details in the Application Questions section of the form or email [email protected] to confirm your position of preference to be added to your application.

- Include any practical hobbies, projects, or achievements
- Regularly check your emails for updates
Step 2 – Aptitude Testing
Successful applicants will be invited to attend aptitude tests designed to assess:
- Problem solving
- Numerical skills
- Mechanical and Electrical understanding
- General engineering aptitude
These tests help identify your potential for apprenticeship training.

You may find other practice tests such as SHL Practice Tests to gain experience of aptitude tests.
Step 3 – Waterside Interview
If successful, you will attend an interview with the Waterside team.
This is an opportunity for us to learn more about:
- Your interest in engineering
- Career goals
- Skills and achievements
- Motivation and attitude
You may also bring examples of project work or practical activities.
Step 4 – Selection Pool & Employer Interviews
Successful candidates join our apprenticeship selection pool where profiles are shared with employer partners.
Employers may then invite shortlisted candidates to final interviews, assessments, or practical activities.
Step 5 – Offer of Apprenticeship
Successful candidates will receive an apprenticeship offer from the employer.
Offers are subject to meeting the required entry criteria.
